thanks guys,
i'll filter the batt+
as for the turning off shit... is v.weird the radio has always turned off during cranking, but this is relatively new - it had been breifly turning off the cig lighter & radio when lights were turned on. i figured it was the crap alternator and associated regulator - that's all been removed!
i was shifting/pulling wires around to wrap them up with that plastic coil stuff (look mum, no more bloody electrical tape!) and then started testing everything ... when i found this new auto-radio-off feature..
wilbo: i'll trace back that wire - i assumed it was the one to use as it was part of the wiring that fed the original radio.
