Sprinter strut/stub axle integrity Wed, 24 March 2004 10:09 Go to previous message
All,

Just curious as to the strength of the sprinter strut. More so the stub axle.

I am in the process of trying to upgrade the brakes on my sprinter and the most common approach is to change to an RA-60 strut due to its larger stub axle.

My question is why??

I have never heard of anyone having dramas with the strength of the sprinter stub axle.....Are they known to bend, crack or completely break? Or is the main reason for upgrading to the celica strut simply due to the fact that its easier to do a comprehensive brake upgrade??

Basically I am trying to determine if I should work out an upgrade with my standard strut or the RA60 unit.

Also, I am aware of the associated camber issues with the celica strut (up to 3 deg positive I have heard). Will adjustable strut tops be enough to cancel this AND give me a few degrees negative camber??

Thanks

Gabe
