Twin intercoolers can work well, but it depends how you join them. The easiest way is to join them in series, ie the outlet from intercooler #1 joins the inlet of intercooler #2. The downside of this is you will double the pressure drop and make the inlet tract longer, which is bad news.
The better way to do it is to join them in parallel, so you have a Y-piece splitting the air from the turbo between the coolers. This method will halve the pressure drop and shouldn't make the inlet any longer than it would be with a single cooler.
This is more or less what I did with my 2JZ-GTE install, except I had custom end tanks fabricated to join the cores together instead of using pipes. Check out my web site to see what it looks like. ![Smile](images/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif)
