Thu, 25 March 2004 03:11 ok that link was pretty good. it basically says as norbi did that the contact area of wider tyres will be the same as for narrow tyres. but the shape will change - wide tyre has a wide thin patch. narrow tyre has a long narrow patch. but total area is the same - end of story! not end of story totally but this begs the question why does the shape affect the grip of the tyre - why do wider tyres grip better?
