it was too much of a hassle to try to do it to the tranny tunnel - I just put a layer of foam underneath, and made sure the carpet was well secured by the bolts for seatbelts, seats, etc.
it worked wonders on the outer edging tho!
now all I need to do is convince my friend to drive me to your place, and I can give back the heat gun and grab my seat
