at WOT, the open throttle does not pose much of a restriction to resonance, and the whole intake tract is the resonator, so pre-throttle resonator would have an effect. how large depends on design. at anything less maybe half throttle, the throttle acts effectively to block a lot of the resonance in the intake,
resonator is tuning aid when the intake tract is not good perhaps
