it certainly isn't about the cost of the computer 
afaik, the worlds fastest 4Cyl is powered by a Megasquirt (around 320mph? and it's a 1.3L!!).. it's all about the tune...
another VERY important issue is the aftermarket service.. some companies are very poor in this area, while others you pay for it..
if you have the $$, go a Motec, you will not regret it. around 3K or so? check www.capa.com for prices.
as for others... who knows.. been a fair few comments lately of Wolf triggering not being so great but.....
wait for "Ultramegasquirt"  LOL
