I've seen alot of CT20'd 3TGTE's with loose nuts around the turbo - given they're 20 years old and subjected to extremes of temperature, it's not hard to understand they work themselves loose! I'd use either manifold in your application, and would only replace the CT20 with a CT26 if you wan't to spend the extra money on modified oil and water lines, dump pipes, and air piping.
On a brighter note, I think I have a spare gasket in the shed, will have a look for it in the morning.
