A few years ago I went to a mechanic once to have a 5M->6M swap done in my Supra (it was a warranty job, otherwise I would have done it myself). Incredibly, it took them 3 months to finish the job, and they charged me twice the original quote! Don't ask me what they did in that time, but such a straightforward conversion should definitely NOT take that long. I have absolutely no intentions of letting a workshop hold my car to ransom again - my policy now is to do absolutely everything myself, apart from a few jobs I don't have the equipment for (eg exhaust system).
