SSI - the rt132 stock spring and ta22 stock spring are the EXACT same length (unsprung of course) not sitting in the strut FWIW.

if someone has a stock TA22 and measures from the ground to the lip of the guard then compare : mine is 630mm running 195/50/15 tyres.

the rate of the king springs is 75-170lb progressive too if thats any use.

while i'm on it, you can remove some length out of the spring to suit the higher bottom shock mount, but, this will reduce your suspension travel substantially - dorikan did this with his and found his bottoming out on the bump stops - so i wouldn't recommend this.

IF you shorten your strut you could look at coil overs : fulcrum suspension do an alloy perch - use an ae92 insert (i think) with this setup - (so you have to cut 40mm out of your strut) and with the new adjustable seat you can lower/raise your car to suit. also bear in mind you will need a 60mm custom made king spring to suit ($250 RRP) and its all good.

re: the cutting/shutting of strut. this can be done. i don't know exactly how safe this is i know of people who have done it and had 100% success, but, i think any engineer who would engineer something like this would *possibly* want xrays of the welds to make sure they are 100% perfect. would suggest TIG for this kind of work and to be performed by an engineering workshop.
