Karts have lots of grip and a very short wheelbase. Plenty of power will make wheelspin easy enough, but I think actual drift is going to be very hard to do. Grippy chassis + twitchy handling = bad for drift.
Having said that, I used to race karts on a dirt track using second-hand slick tyres and a slightly modified 6hp Briggs & Stratton 4-stroke. The only way to get around the track was to drift WRC-style around every corner; if you tried to drive "normally" around a corner you'd just understeer straight off the track! This is a whole stack of fun even with the low-powered engine, but a kart on a sealed surface is a completely different kettle of fish.
I'd be able to post pics/vids of my kart-rallying action if my web site wasn't STILL down.
