The sanding alone took about about two weeks working over 8 hours each day, and that was not completely back to bare metal (I didn't use any stripper as I wanted to preserve the bog underneath). I was using one of the plain $20 orbital sanders and I burnt out two of them. If you are going to paint a dark colour you may want to use a black undercoat as this will make your top coat much richer and stop the grey undercoat showing through. The paint (acrylic) cost me about $500 all up which covered: metal conditioner, etch primer, 4L grey undercoat, 4L black undercoat, 4L paint, 1L pearl, 4L clear, 20L thinners. That pretty much covered the whole thing except the engine bay. [Report message to a moderator]
