Moving A Caravan
Tue, 06 April 2004 12:42
Just wanting some input on how to move a caravan across my yard. Any suggestions welcome...
The 'van in question is your average 14ft van, weight unknown but at a guess i'd say maybe 4-500kg's??? The towing hitch has rusted away and is of no use but there are some chains on the underside of the caravan which could be used. One tyre is flat, the other is ok...
So far i've come up with a couple of ideas;
*Get a couple of mates around and have a piss-up, hopefully we can push it across the yard.
*Hire a lever block (see attached). Has anyone used one of these & if so how do they anchor to the ground?
*Use the chains attached to make a temprary tow hitch & use a ute/4wd to tow it across the yard.
All of the above ideas have their pros & cons, most notably a lack of space to move around the yard. At the moment i'm favouring the lever block idea...
I'm wanting to move the van from it's current location (as pictured) to behind the BBQ, maybe 15-20 metres.
Please excuse my crappy drawing, not to scale
