Used a large sponge to get out most of the water, until the carpets were damp to the touch (rather than soaking wet) and then used a hairdryer to get rid of the remaining water...

Couple of points to note;

*Use a pattern when drying the carpets i.e. left to right, small patches at a time etc. It's no use blowing hot air everywhere...

*DON'T use the hottest setting to get the job done quicker. It does a much better job if you do it slow and take your time...
