Such a system would probably work great on a drag car. You could use an external refrigeration system to cool the reservoir of glycol/whatever, and as long as your reservoir is large enough it should remain cool for the 10 seconds or whatever you're blasting down the 1/4 mile. Having an on-board refrigeration system probably wouldn't be too practical though.
