Thu, 29 August 2002 08:07 it was the speedo that was the reason, i heard it on the news, radio and read it in magazines as well as the Drive section of the paper, see what they do is replace the standard speedo dials with ones that instead of being 10,20,30km/h steps it went up in like 2km/h steps so therefor the police had a more acurate reading of what speed the car was doing but the problem was they didn't get the dials set up correct so in the end the speedo said they were going quicker then what they really were and as they went faster and faster the larger the difference was between the given speed and the actual speed of the car, so people were getting booked for doing 140km/h when they were actually doing something more like 115km/h so therefor they recalled all the WRX's and well never bothered fixing them, was nothing to do with the reliability of the car more on how reliable the speedo was.
