I agree with this to an extent. There is more to this than first thought. More precisely, the 5s big ends are 4mm larger than the 3s. Meaning either the 5s crank needs to machined down or the 3s rods require machining. I know I would machine the crank before I would machine rods. Shorter pistons are also required due to the longer stroke.
Anyway, the 5s crank is actually forged like the 3s and is as strong, if not stronger than the 3s. It has been known to take huge horsepower and is equally as reliable.
Is it worth ruining a square engine for the sake of 200cc? Dunno.
Will the extra torque generated by the longer stroke be noticeable? Dunno.
