I'm pretty sure that a mini tub is only about the same width as the original or a maybe a little bigger and without moving the suspension.
Full tubs are really really big and involve moving your susupension points inward furhter cause you have big mutha wheels in the way! your car will then handle a bit like a land cruiser....or my 720!
in regard to the Ford with 305's, depending on the model you can fit them under there just by squaring off the inner guards and pulling the outers out a little bit. I think you can get 12" rims and those size tyres under an xa-xc coupe then
