It goes without comment that the 1JZ is a better engine, but if you want 300rwhp (particularly a US 300rwhp then a 1GGTE will do it for you no sweat. I know a guy with considerably more power than this from his 1G, and with no internal modifications. A moderately sized TO4 (or ideally something a bit more modern with a ball bearing carriage) would do the trick. Backed with an upgraded fuel pump, some fuel/ignition control, and decent intake/exhaust system 300rwhp is a walk in the park. You may need larger injectors, I am led to believe that 7MGTE injectors will do the trick. That said I still agree that the 1JZ is a better option if you can afford the initial outlay. You will probably make 300rwhp (US) with basic upgrades like intercooler/exhaust, which will work out much cheaper in the long run because the stock ECU and turbos will support that no problems.
