white smoke usually means water is getting into the combustion chamber which could mean head gasket. do what fwdboy said to check for bubbles. if thats a problem and you cheap, buy a bottle of radiatior stop leak, poor it in the radiator and re-tension your headgasket. this only work sometimes other wise you probably need a new gasket.
if it was an oil problem then the smoke would be blue.
