Thu, 29 August 2002 15:52 So I take it my mechanic won't take 3 days to put a 7MGTE in a GA70??? He reckons 3 days it'll take him to put it in, wire it up and get it running and is charging $400 + parts provided the engine goes straight in. He said that if it's the same engine, it'll be 1-2 days and $300 + parts. Other mechanics I went to for a quote say $700 + parts and will take 1 week. Then I went to a performance mechanic and the guy quoted me $4000 + parts and 1 month to do it. I want to get another engine put in, but I can't keep my car off the road for a long time. It was bad enough my car off the road for 3 days to get some of it resprayed. So what is the realistic time an engine conversion takes?? Say provided no small jobs come through and stuff???
