Hi, From what I've read in Euro car mags, it seems that future crash regulations involving pedestrians will make packaging an inline 6 a bit more difficult. The shift will involve more downward sloping noses, and some "shock absorbtion" system for pedestrian accidents. It seems that making the whole engine sit behind strut towers is the easiest way to do this. Plus there seems to be a big push for close to 50/50 balance by many car companies.
