Matt has made some very valid points. I'll add to them by saying I did some IT work for a schoool friend who runs/owns a panel shop in Newcastle with his brother. I installed a CDRW drive and some software that NRMA et al use in jobs. Now the deal is that they take pictures of the damage and send it off to be assesed by the insurers and get told what needs to be done and how much etc. They then keep all these pictures etc as a back-log in case the parties involved get nancy. He tells me that most of their work is just bolt up sort of things, in that more and more these days parts are not so much repaired but replaced. This is not to say that actual restoration/repair work is done, it's just going the other way.
