is it a double tick? like a tic-tic....tic-tic....
it could be a wheel bearing, or axle..
or even a loose rear drum shoe, wobbling inside the drum..
did it happened after any diff strees or just came in from nothing?

You can try jacking the car up in the air, putting it in neutral and spinning the rear wheels manually to pin point the location..

If the noise becomes bad going around a corner, ie, making one wheel spin faster than the other, then it's the spider gears.

If the noise is unchanged then it's probably the crown/pinion.

Although it could be wheel bearing, wheel, axle, etc etc...

Oh and check your wheels are all on tight!! I had a diff clunk
that was "getting worse and worse", when it was apparently
'about to blow' lucky I was on my way down an on ramp to the fwy, and got that gut feeling "check car, you are going to die" feeling, and yep back wheel had 1 nut left on it.

hope this helps!
