hey V8... Interesting one this.
My 162 does EXACTLY the same thing. Drive it for a long as you like all week and nary a light to grace my dash, BUT stick the cruise on for say, oh, half and hour, and my friendly little engine light turns on. Even did it on the way to penrith this week.
The old girl purrs like a kitten, doesn't use any more fuel etc etc, yet we have a light.
NOW I did notice that it came on quicker when the car was "lower" on oil than when I had it topped right up. (I had lots of time to test my theories while I was busy driving all around NSW, VIC and TAS)
Now I don't want my ECU to be stuffed, as I have a Jap one methinks so I will be very interested in what you find out...
