on some bikes, i think it was GSX-R?? the injectors are positioned just upstream of the second butterfly...

when the throttle is closed, the injector sprays onto the part of the throttle that will open toward the motor... this way the fuel will be atomised a bit better by the air rushing past the butterfly. at WOT, the fuel will not impinge on the butterfly..

i guess it's a compromise between both systems...
