the carbi will leak fuel at idle or cruise - unless the pump has some kind of over-pressure protection (e.g. when line pressure hits Xpsi, don;t pump so hard or keep 1-way valve open) - and this is unlikely.

fuel economy might be very ordinary - possibly frightening if the floats/needle-valve in the carbi can't hold back the higher pressure.

i'd remove a pump from one of your spare engines rather than use an electric pumpe with no return. otherwise you really need a carbi that has provision for a return line.
