Hmmm...Where to start?
Yes, the Crown engine comes with "smaller" (read very restrictive) manifolds. It also mounts differently in OEM config (a tilt, if I remember correctly), runs a remote oil-filter (handy in an '83 application - trust me, I know)!
It also runs a clutch fan and, I'm told, puts out less power than, say, a UZZxx Soarer engine, primarily, due to the exhaust manifolds.
Oh, and it also uses two separate ECUs, 1 for the engine, 1 for the transmission. (As distinct from the Soarer, for example, which uses one ECU for both)
Being a Toyota engine, I'd imagine there are a number of other variations also...someone who is more familiar with the Crown engine will probably expand on this.
BTW. My project is using the Soarer engine and, yes, the exhaust manifolds have had to be "re-jigged" slightly to make the whole thing fit, particularly around the steering input-shaft...
