4age conversion help

first of all i dont know much about cars on the mechanical side anyway.

I recently purchased a 84 sprinter (levin) i wanted to do are engine conversion (4age 100kw version) and i thought that i could just buy the engine i wanted and swap it stright in, boy was i wrong.

i also know its cheaper to get an half-cut too but i just want to also learn as well.

iv been told i need are EFI fuel tank but buying a half-cut can i fit the AE82 or AE92 Fuel tank onto the sprinter?

the thing is i just want to know everything that is needed to to make the conversion. so far i found out i need:

- obviously the 100kw 4age

- ECU

- wiring loom

- extractors

- fuel pump

- EFI fuel tank

- EFI fuel lines

can readers please add more to the list above, because i know i need alot more part to complete the conversion.

i am also wondering do i need to change the 4A gearbox to fit the 4age engine?

well at lease i know i dont need to change the sprinter engine mounts to fit the 4age.

any help would be great.

Thanks

Bro this needs to be in the technical forum, but to answer your question

# EFI fuel tank, "GOOD LUCK", no other cars tank will fit, you could run a surge tank or cut open standard tank and weld in baffles and efi pump as i have had done (cost me about the same as using a surge tank and efi pump, its safer and neater). Some say you dont need to upgrade the fuel inlet pipe but its better to be safe then sorry. You will need efi fuel filter, efi rubber hoses, non efi hoses stand no chance of 50-80 psi of fuel pressure.

# 100kw engine are fwd so if you leave the throttle body where it is it wont be useable, you'll need to get a rwd inlet manifold(rare but there some around) or cut the throttle body off and get re-weld it in the right position.

# im not 100% sure of this but i do believe the water outlet is at the back of the head in the fwd 4ag, so some radiator pipe work needs to be made up to run the water along to the front. You will also need thermofans unless you can get your hands on a rwd water pump, FWD motors dont have provisions for a belt driven fan.

# alot easier to use the original rwd tranny (t50), just make sure you get a spigot bearing to suit, fwd gearbox doesnt have one so there will be no spigot bearing?

Thats about all i can think off.

There will/or be more info here: http://www.toymods.org.au/FWD_To_RWD_4A-GE/
