Thanks for the input guys.
I have still got my heart set on the 1uz swap, as i cant justify the apparent fuel consumption of the 1j as the car will be a daily driver and am trying to keep the conversion and the future running costs to a bare minimum (not to mention simplicity of engine setup,and possible insurance hassles).
As yet I haven't done that much research on the 1uz variants because i cant find that much info on them in regards to the specs of the sump,manifold,wiring, and dimensions.
I just don't want to get burnt by buying the wrong style of motor.
Also, Biased I was under the impression that soarers didn't come in a front sump config? How do you intend to 'rejigg' your exhaust manifolds, as they are cast iron arent they? I thought that cast iron could not be bent, welded etc.(not having seen the manifolds in the flesh before, i would be very interested for you to tell me how you plan to do this).
Sorry for asking so many questions, but i really need to find out as much as i can from some people in the know before i go out and buy one of these engine/trans combos.
