I don't believe its an electrical gremlin as mine does the same thing. I suspect it has something to do with the sequence in which you turn on the car, turn on the lights, turn off the car, exit the car (ie. door opening/closing)... but I haven't bothered to double check yet as I just turn the lights out 
I also have both the solar sensor and the A/D (Auto Drive) button in both my GZ20 and GA70. Push the button (which will light up) to enable your cruise control, then use either the lever on the back side of the steering wheel (on the GZ20) or the button on the right side of the steering wheel (on the GA70) to set your cruise speed, and then on the GZ20 push lever up to accelerate, push down to coast, and pull towards you to cancel (or alternatively touch the brake) on the GA70 (from memory, as I haven't driven my supra for a coupla months, a mate has it) the top half of the right hand button accelerates, the left hand decelerates, and the left hand button cancels... but someone may wish to confirm/correct me on this...
