ST185RC = ST185CS = ST185R Group A Rallye
The RC and CS are the overseas models (RC is USA and CS is europe I think)
If you want to make sure the car is Group A edition you should look for the following gear:
1.) Water to air intercooler (intercooler has radiator cap on top RHS)
2.) ABS Brakes
3.) Shorter gear shifter (hard to tell if you've never seen a non group A)
4.) intercooler water sprayers (hard to tell if you don't know what you're looking for)
5.) Group A model came out with cd player as standard
6.) Group A model will have group A badging and a build number sticker just above the gear shifter
7.) Front bar and bonnet scoop are quite different to the standard gt fours(see my avatar)
8.) on the Group A's the pre-ordered ones had a custom gold plaque made with the original owners name on them... This plaque will be mounted just in front of the radiator
If you still can't work it out Toyota have most of the VIN numbers listed (up to approx build 100ish) so just call the toyota customer service dudes in NSW (02) 9710 3986... ask to speak to Colleen she is helpful
If they don't have the VIN on file (only if its a late build) take a heap of pictures under the bonnet and all the area's listed above and I'll give you my oppinion
