Since the weather's started warming up, a thicker oil would be a bit better. You may find on warm days when the engine gets really nice & hot it shouldn't be so noisy.
I was using a 5W-40 oil through winter, & have now changed to a 15W-50, but my engine rarely runs very hot because the radiator works too well. During winter, my car will never reach full operating temperature while driving. I can let it warm up, but once start moving it drops straight down to 60 or so degrees.
The best solution I came up with was to cover half the radiator with a peice of cardboard painted back. Bodgy but effective.
