Do you mean spray on the intercooler, or into the intake. I had both on my race car, and didn't find a noticable difference. I do have a reasonably large intercooler, made from two Soarer ones welded together, and the wind was pushing through at 200 mph. My intake ran 10 degrees over ambient, which I was surprised at. The water made no noticible difference.
For the intake spray, I used a fog nozzle from a company that I think is called Spray nozzle engineering in Moorabin in Melb. Pretty cheap, 6 bucks each from memory. I used a diapghram pump like they use on the 12 volt farm sprayers, which I bought at a swap meet for $25. These pump at over 100 PSI, with a reasonable volumn. It worked OK, but stank of roundup. I then used a rising rate fuel regulator from a turbo engine so that it maintained an even pressure over the intake manifold. Seemed to work fine, but made no diff for me.
I also made a spayer to spray water into the front of the intercooler, which also seemed to work well, but again didn't help me. I used a headlight washer pump from a Mazda, an ES something from memory, and fed it into some plastic 360 degree irrigation fittings from the local garden irrigation shop. I had to restrict the flow to stop it pumping too much, and it took about 4 types of jets until I found ones that worked well with the relatively low pressure from the headlight washer pump.
