I'm pretty sure that it's a japanese voice on the warning things. A member of the mk2 mailing list in new zealand had an xx and I'm sure he was saying that it's a voice, not a warning buzzer. I think it's recorded on something, although I'm not sure what. I'm pretty sure the box for it is in the back of the car somewhere.
There are other engine options, although I'm not sure what years they were available in. There was the m-teu, 2lt turbo I *think* some got the 1g-e motor as well. Although I think the majority got the 5m-ge.
