Cheapest I've been able to find the 2-way LSD's is about $700 (cheapest LSD a 1-way for $650 second hand), I can get the T housing for free but then will have to still get gears, axles, bearings etc, plus welding of mounts onto the diff. Then I'll have to get the disc brake setup, and even assuming I reuse the calipers and discs in whatever condition they come in, I'd still be looking at ~$1000 or more.
Someone I know has just put an R31 diff into a KE55, new LSD cones, new bearings, new slotted discs, rebuilt calipers, shortened with the leaf spring mounts welded on for $1000. Admittedly the ratio in it isn't what I'd like (3.9) but I'm sure for the extra cost of the slotted discs (I'm only looking for standard discs) I could get the 4.1 ratios out of the Pintara diff...
And then in both cases I'll have to still get my tailshaft modified to fit, so in both caes I recon I'm still looking at the $1000-$1300 mark. Except on one hand I get a Celica diff with 2nd hand LSD in questionable condition, 2nd hand calipers and discs, and on the other hand I get an R31 diff with brand new everything...
I dunno.
