I love the look of what you're doing with this and it has gotten me thinking...
I want to improve the lighting of the car (it can't get any worse can it?) and the immediate thought is to reduce the load on the light wires by reducing them to switching current only and driving all the headlights from relays. So wiring the original wires to the relays and then wiring the relays to the headlights while keeping the original headlights (at this stage - I will move to better units when I can).
Firstly, is it appropriate to add one relay per pair or better to have one per light? I would have thought that it would be better to have one relay per light in case of failure (so you could at least get home on one light). While doing this, the fuses in the interior relevant to the headlights become less useful and so I'm thinking that there should be fuses installed with the relays as well?
My 22 has only about 3-4 relays in it now. Adding another 2-4 relays plus fuses will make that section of the engine bay fairly messy. What ideas are floating around for installing more relays and keeping the install neat? Does anyone know of an appropriate later model car that would have a fuse/relay box that would be appropriate for this conversion?
Sorry for the ramble...
Cheers,
Dan
