How do you do an acid test?...Litmus paper strips is a good start. If the reading is high it means that the oil should be changed more regularly. What is on the dip stick is enough to get a reading.."Most" Diesel repair shops have them in stock (litmus strips)and they can be used for oil or coolant, both which are (to me)very important to keeping an eye on what can't be seen in either systems.Oil, like water can become very acidic with all the dis-similar metals in engines (steel pump gears, alloy blocks and heads, copper gaskets, stainless relief valve springs in filters..etc..etc..)Prevention is better (easier)then cure..
Cheers
