couple of things i picked up in this thread....
the reason why the compression ratio shouldnt be lower with a head gasket is because it throws off your cam timing. sure you can get adjustable cam gears or you could just do what i do and dont worry about it
when you turbo an NA engine you need to worry about a couple of things- detonation- BAD. u can stay away from detonation with lower boost, better IC, retard timing.
also youll need to make sure youve got the right fuel ratios. typically NA motors have smaller injectors than their turbo counterparts. you can either swap out the injectors (if your ecu will handle it) or increase the fuel pressure under boost (via rrfpr) to give you the right ratios when boosting. wrong ratios will grenade your engine and do lots of damage. im only just starting to learn this lesson.
atm my 5M-GTE runs about 7-8psi, with no IC, and malpassi rrfpr which is maxed out. it pings a little bit at high rpm, which should be fixed when i get time to work on it in the uni holidays
