I can see your point...but in my opinion I think F1 is about getting around the track in the shortest possible time, irrespective of machinery.
There are plenty of other control type races, watch one of those if you are interested in close racing (dihatsu cup??), but leave F1 as the fastest cars possible.
I also believe that control tyres are wrong, part of motorsport should be the selection of correct equipment. Could you imagine the outcry if they said all cricketers have to use the same bat to remove the differences, all footy players had to wear the same type of boot?? Equiptment selection is part of sport.
I think that part of motorsport include the development of machinery.
I think the V8's are also loosing track - they now have a standard suspension package, they are killing off all the things make the ford vs holden thing great by standarising everthing.
