okay..
josh, get in line we will be doign a GB as soon as the parts lists and boards are released.
Charles (did you get those wiring diagrams yet?) i believe the PWC will also be available as standalone unit.
i know that there are a number of people (me included) we are looking to set up calibration stations for the sensors. in the end there may be a set of parameters that wil allow an off the shelf sensor to be run.. for this i'd want about 0.2AFR accuracy.. the calibration is for the 10tenths thing i think, but we'll see.
PWC will be part of UMS (but will not necessarily need to..) the idea is 12x12 AFR table.... none of this VE or ms crap.. true real time AFR targetting
EDIT: it will definitely have narrow band O2 sensor support as well, so will not require purchase of the Bosch LSU4... the features on UMS will be of the range where people will want to go with the WB tho..
Ed, sorry, this is just a tease end of this year looks realistic...
Chris. how does it compare? the plain MS is as good as microtech or better (depends on model) it has 8x8 table but you select the positions (ie 1kpa and 100rpm steps) it does low and high impedance injectors.. it does closed loop. has warmup enrichments, barometric correction etc etc etc etc..
the first release of the software will probably be for single coil. the hardware will all be there, and will just need software update to run more coils.. the bueaty of it is configurability (is that a word?) you set the 12 channels to be whatever you want...
the UMS will blow many ECU's out of the water... it will have an excellent software interface... RTOS means that some ppl will put linux ON THE UMS, so just needs to plug into dumb terminal...
ethernet connection to PC, REAL TIME AFR targetting means that all you have to do is set AFR's and away you go!
i believe it will initially use an internal Motorola MAP sensor as MS does now.. currently it is the MPX4250AD? basically uou have 1.5BAR boost capability so far. swapping in better MAP sensors is not much of a drama... how much boost you want to run? there are people runnign plain MS with 2-3BAR already.
12x12 rpm increments???
ok. MS is 8bit. it has 100rpm increments.
UMS will be 32bit. it will most likely have either 10 or 50rpm increments..
thus you could set your table up to be 1000-1120rpm if you want.. the positions of the points are fully configurable... ie 600,1000,1500,1950, 2220, etc etc.. whatever you want.. none of this "set table" crap
same goes for MAP... i know of a guy runnign his MAP table as (on MS)
60, 80, 83, 86, 89, 92, 95, 98 kpa... which is the top two load bands on Wolf... it runs beautifully, and uses +-20% O2 correction to keep cruise AFR at stoich.. (idle and cruise MAP is 75kpa, ie 25kpa vacuum)
basically, it is a 'next generation' type of deal// all the features you want, completely open source (ie write your own code if you want) etc etc...
