WHATS WITH ALL THIS BULLSHIT ABOUT SOMEBODYS COUSINS UNCLES ESTRANGED WIFE SAID THIS WOULDNT WORK AND PEOPLE CARRY ON LIKE ITS GOSPEL...YOU ALL NEED TO WAKE UP AND DO WHATS CALLED RESEARCH BUT ILL PUT IN MY 5 CENTS ANYHOW CAUSE LYLE (CORVID) TRIED TO.....
First of all.
AE92 Levin hubs will FIT, the control arm has to have the holes opened out slightly to accept the larger studs of the ball joint
that is ALL and use the ae82 strut tops to maintain the stud pattern.
Second of all
The 20V box is good because gearing is short, means quick acceleration but has less top end also....its a compromise. STD 4agze box uses a 4.285 diff ratio and more than adequately accelerates well, take my word for it, my MR2 box runs similar gearing and same final drive and it accelerates fantastically.
Third of all
THE GZE GEARBOX FITS EASILY. I DONT KNOW WHAT YOU JOKERS ARE ALL ON ABOUT...
you have to use a FWD GZE rear gearbox mount and move it back to second hole on the x-member, redrill the rear hole and use a packing block to push the X-Member down at the back, 30mm lower.
Shafts will work fine, fit straight into the hubs.
I DO ALL OF MY OWN WORK
and for those who know my car see what i mean. so unless you have tried something and know it doesn't fit then DONT speak, its simple.
for the record, I run an MR2 turbo gearbox behind my 3SGTE in my AE82, and this is of similar size to E51 GZE box and fits just fine, shafts are slightly larger than GZE ones, and LSD uses different inner CV joints, with shorter splines engaging into the centre.
So if you have nothing useful to say then don't say it.
This is why i don't post on here anymore, nobody puts the effort in to try and research before they speak, its simple and saves you many hassles.
/end rant
Michael
PS, Lyle hows the AW11 going mate? Gotta catch up some time soon, got the LSD box in now and boy does it grip a lot better...was making 138.9kw at wheels on 14psi Sunday, has more in it but fuel mixtures are leaning out on 15psi...so for now its alright.
