RA28midge wrote on Sun, 30 May 2004 17:15 | I was talking to a toyota design engineer last night who is doing testing on ceramic valves for the 3SGE, he thinks the setup they have produces a much stronger and higher reving engine than the current titanium valves they use in some of their race engines. But he was saying the slight sideways movement from the cam force causes the valve to snap along the stem at ultra high revs because of the stem seal.
I have only looked at the seals on my 18RG (how I am missing it...) which is only like a rubber gromet, but he was saying it is all metal in the 3SG.
Can someone please explain what the seal looks like?
I just thought I would share this because I found it interesting.

Dosent make sence! the valve guide maybe! but the seal does not stop an valve movement (one would hope not anyway!)
