ed_ma61 Forums Junkie Location: Lost in the K hole Registered: May 2002	Re: Knife Edging and butchering a crankshaft Mon, 31 May 2004 10:29 its grinding of the leading edge of the crank arms to a 'knife edge' - its supposed to 'cut' its way through the oil fog of the crankcase, lowering friction of the rotating assembly. its controversial, and has its fans in the v8 pushrod fraternity as you might be aware though, 'sharp' objects do NOT have the best aerodynamic profile at all, rather, they should be tear shaped. noone has ever done any real work looking at this though.
