depends how deep and how bad.

scratches typically are only 'depressions' in the bore wall, and itll fill up with oil and have no consequence. its the high points next to the scratch that cause problems with gauling and wear etc. you can buff the high points down and everything will be fine.

a GOUGE as opposed to a 'scratch' however, will distort the bore more significantly, and thus render that bore useless untill remachined, ground, buffed etc.

i wouldnt be THAT worried about it... some 600grit (rubbed back on itself with wd40) and some cutting paste should fix it ok.

PICS??

cheers
ed
