my guess would be the carby my 82 does this abit when cold and its usually cause of the carby that and the auto choke is a bit dicky me best advice would be to adjust the timing a lil first and try the dizy they are a lil easier and not that time consuming if all else fails buy a carby kit from repco or somewhere and Spend the day pulling out the carby and replacing springs seals etc etc
