I don't know how much of an issue it is for you but a general rule for aviation is if it smells like vinegar, you don't use it on an aircraft. Roughly translated, it means that silastic based sealants (smells like vinegar) are corrosive to some alloys. I haven't thought about what alloys you would be wanting to use it on, just thought I would add my 2c worth.
