fuel pump stuffed?
also, return line to tank (from fuel pump) blocked so excess fuel bled back to tank doesn't get there and eventually 'stops up' the main line.
also, tank-breather-to-charcoal-cannister may not working so as fuel pump sucks fuel from tank, vacuum forms preventing fluel flow - fix by re-enabling tank vent+charcoal cannister thingo.
can't be starter motor if it turns over the engine
why alternator? charge light would be on if it was stuffed - and you'd get flat battery after a while anyway. timing? did you static time it before re-installing points?
check that you're getting a spark when you crank the engine (when it refuses to fire up).
