thanks guys ill check all that out. i pulled the sparks out last night and they had black caron build up on them. The plugs are only 2 months old and the car has only been started a handfull of times in that time. the haynes book ive got said its the plugs are in the right temp range so i got a different set today today and will see if that helps. its not fuel because i had a mate round and he starve stalled the carby (clamped fuel line) and it started after a second with no fuel in the carb at start. also covered the air intake on the carb so it stalled full of fuel, and granted it spluttered a bit it still started. so from that im assuming its not fuel related. if i unhook the carbon catch can will it start properly? or wont it start unless hooked up ? (to see if thats the prob?) might i add this is my first venture into mechanics so although im pretty cluey you could still say im a novice. Cheers guys for all the info il keep yas posted.
