ok on further troubleshooting this is what ive come up with: i have replaced: points, plugs, rotor cap, dizzy ballast/condensor, and coil (bosch gt40rt) had my father in law adjust the timing by ear ... he's wise i trust his work ... plus it idles/runs better now. the thing just wont start after taking it for a run. id drive 1 maybe 2 kms, park it, turn it off, then try to start it. voltage readings at points like battery coil and pre coil resistor are the same as cold start before running the car. bout the only parts i havent replaced in the ignition system are the pre coil resister and the distributor itself. seems like driving is causing something to overheat and not allow the car to start. also would not having the auto choke on the carby hooked up affect anything much besides making cold starts easier? thanks guys im really at my wits end here.
